PROGRAMME COORDINATOR (SOCIAL CLUBS)

East London Cares is an anti-racist organisation committed to advancing anti-racism and inclusion in our work and in our communities. We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people, who are currently under-represented in our organisation. We are an equal opportunities employer.

  • Salary: £26,000
  • Full time, permanent position (37.5 hours per week)
  • 26 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Flexible working hours
  • Application deadline: Tuesday 27th April, at 9am.

East London Cares is a community network reducing loneliness and isolation amongst older and younger people alike; improving the confidence, belonging, purpose and power of all participants; and bringing people together to bridge the gaps across social, generational, digital, cultural and attitudinal divides.

We're looking for someone with creativity, perseverance, patience, leadership and positivity to lead our Social Clubs programme. As Programme Coordinator you will need to be able to lead a room, have a track record of supporting creative community projects, and experience dealing with multiple tasks and challenges at the same time. You will be confident and full of energy, with an organised approach, a clear, authentic communication style and an intrinsic understanding of the power of networks and digital media.

In this role you will design and lead 3-4 social clubs per week – from phone-in chatty clubs to virtual business tours to seated yoga in the park – bringing people together across social, generational and attitudinal divides. You will shape the social clubs programme by forging new community, arts and cultural partnerships.

You will need to be a powerful communicator, in writing and in person, and someone who can talk to and relate to people from all backgrounds, no matter their circumstances. We need someone equally comfortable discussing illness and isolation with a housebound 95-year-old in Bow as you are talking about work and weddings with a 25-year-old volunteer in Canary Wharf.

You will understand and be motivated by the demographics and social challenges of our home boroughs (Tower Hamlets and Hackney) and the issues we work on. You will also be a self-starter: someone committed, resilient, and focused working alone as well as in a team; who is passionate about further developing, improving and sustaining East London Cares over the coming years.

If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. This is a task based application. The full job description and details on how to apply are linked below, please read them carefully before submitting your application.
